Getting Ready for Kindergarten

The Renton School District uses curriculum emphasizing developmental learning in a variety of skills and areas—physical, cognitive, and social.  The full-day program allows for extended study in kindergarten curriculum units, literacy, language, mathematics, science, social studies, and social skill development.  Time to read, explore, create, solve problems, and experiment with the environment is provided in the full-day experience. Below are areas to work on with your child to prepare them for kindergarten.

EARLY ENTRANCE TO KINDERGARTEN

If your child will be 5 years old on or before August 31, 2024, you do not need to apply for early entrance to Kindergarten and should proceed with registration for the upcoming school year. Students turning five years old between September 1 and September 30, 2024, are eligible to apply for early entrance to Kindergarten for the 2024-2025 school year. The link to the application and other information can be found below.
