Attendance

Absences are excused for: illness, medical appointments, legal appointments, religious holidays, and the death of family members.

If a student has 5 or more unexcused absences within a month or 10 unexcused absences within the school year we are obligated to report these to the school district and begin proceedings to file a truancy petition as stated by Washington state law.

Excessive tardiness and absences negatively affect a student’s academic performance. Six tardies/absences in a trimester will be considered excessive. Students who are chronically tardy may receive consequences from the classroom teacher and/or the principal. Students who are absent are expected to make up missed work.

Reporting Student Absences

ATTENDANCE Phone Number: (425) 204-4610

Regular and punctual attendance is extremely important to your child's success in school. However, when absences or late arrivals are necessary, please do the following:

1. Please call the attendance line (425-204-4610) at any time to report your child's absence from school. Please give the following information:

  • Child’s full name
  • Child’s teacher
  • Date(s) of absence
  • Reason for absence

If we do not receive a morning call, we will attempt to reach you to verify the child's whereabouts.

2. When the child returns to school, send a note with him/her explaining the reason for the absence or late arrival, including the dates involved and parent/guardian’s signature.

Early Dismissal

If your child is to be dismissed before the regular time, please send a note of explanation. We will have him/her called out of class to meet you in the office. Please sign the early dismissal book before leaving. Students leaving before 2:00 PM will receive an afternoon absence.

Students should never leave school for any reason during the day without checking out through the office.

If someone else will be picking up your child during the school day, please send a note with the name of that person and a phone number where you can be contacted. If you do not notify us that a party other than a guardian will pick up your child, we will not allow your child to be released to that party.
